The Ianus Piano Duo was constituted in 2000 by Orietta Caianiello and Antonio Sardi de Letto, two performers fond of the 20th century repertory and of contemporary music.

The Duo has conceived since many original programs successfully performed in Italy and abroad. Among them: Sei per Due (Six for two), dedicated to the music of the Groupe des Six, broadcast as part of the series ‘Radio 3 Concerts from the Quirinal Palace’ and rebroadcast by many other European media outlets including the BBC; Two Faces of the Moon for two Pianos and Electronics by Ivan Fedele and Nicola Sani, which was presented in the United States and Canada; Ianus for two pianos and orchestra by Alessandro Sbordoni performed at the Parco della Musica Auditorium in Rome with the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio together with the Concert for Two Pianos and Orchestra by Francis Poulenc; Visions de l’Amen by Olivier Messiaen performed both in alternatim with the Gregorian Choir Mediae Aetatis Sodalicium (directed by Nino Albarosa) and in a version with Dante Alighieri’s “Divina Commedia” verses recited by the actress Anna Proclemer. Messiaens’s Visions de l’Amen were widely performed in Italy and abroad, at the “Accademia Filarmonica” of Bologna, “Radio 3 Concerts from the Quirinal Palace”, “Nuova Consonanza Festival” in Rome, Associazione “B. Barattelli” in L’Aquila, “Spazionovecento Festival” in Cremona, “Vesperalia” in Lugano (Switzerland), “University of British Columbia” in Vancouver (Canada).

Together with Anna Proclemer the Ianus Piano Duo also conceived C’era una volta Cenerentola (Once upon a time there was a girl named Cinderella), a poetic voyage from Euripide to Italian contemporary poetry, with the music by Sergej Prokof’ev.
